Imphal, May 28 2012: When it comes to defeating its co-competititors, Manipuri's talent can no longer be just confined to arts and culture or sports, now that a native boy has scripted history by becoming the first Manipuri to top in the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE), 2012 conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in the Science stream .

The results of the examination was announced today Md Ismat, a student of Zenith Academy, Sangaiprou emerged all India topper in the most prestigious of all school board examinations in the country outsmarting the rest of the students who appeared in the exam.

In all 8,15,748 students appeared in the AISSCE, 2012.The results of the examination were declared today recording a total pass percentage of 80.19, a fall of 0.69 percent over last year.

With an outstanding aggregate score of 498 marks out of 500, thus recording an awesome 99 percent, Md Ismat, s/o MV Basirur Rahman of Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai was declared all India topper in the Class XII CBSE examination, 2012 .

He got solid 100 marks in Chemistry, Mathematics, Home Science and Fine Arts and another 97 and 98 respectively in Physics and English Core.

In an exclusive interview to Hueiyen Lanpao at Zenith Academy today, Md Ismat expressed extreme happiness over his success and showed gratitude to almighty Allah for His blessing in securing the coveted top position in the All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (AISSCE), 2012 .

The topper gave all credits for his grand success to his parents, teachers and well wishers and also thanked S Manaoton, Secretary of the school for his immense support towards achieving his goal.

Md Ismat informed that normally he studied for around 6 hours a day but increased the duration of study to 8-10 hours when the examination approached.

Md Ismat said that he plans to graduate in Physics and become an IAS officer in future.

However, he also has the desire to become a scientist one day, he hastened add, saying he enjoys reading various science books/magazines.

In his message to the students of Manipur, Md Ismat said that one ought to control his/her desire, direct their action to a specific aim, live simple and think high rather than paying more attention to fashion and luxury items.

He also suggested that full focus should be given to their studies.

Father of Md Ismat MV Basirur Rahman, who is a teacher at Lilong Chagaipokpi Lower Primary Madrassa, said he is overwhelmed by his son's achievement.

However, he has defied all odds and came out successful", the proud father added.

Meanwhile, in a felicitation programme held at the school, the secretary of Zenith Academy S Manaoton announced that the school would take care of all the financial requirements of Md Ismat towards accomplishing his ultimate goal in life.
