With 30 candidates of the Congress party having been declared elected uncontest for the forthcoming election to eight Municipal Councils and eighteen Nagar Panchayats, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Gaikhangam has lauded and appreciated the people of the areas concerned.
Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan this afternoon, the MPCC president announced the names of the 10 party candidates of the Municipal Council election and another 20 candidates of the Nagar Panchayat election who have been elected uncontest.
This include 6 candidates of Ningthoukhong Municipal Council, 3 candidates of Thoubal Municipal Council, 1 candidates of Bishnupur Municipal Council.
The party candidates who have been declared uncontest in the Nagar Panchayat election include two from Lilong Thoubal Nagar panchayat, another two from Sekmai Nagar Panchayat, seven (out of total nine wards) from Sugnu Nagar Panchayat, three from Andro Nagar panchayat, two from Lamshang Nagar panchayat, two from Kakching Khunou Nagar Panchayat and one each from Oinam Nagar Panchayat and Kumbi Nagar Panchayat.
The fact that 30 party candidates have been fielded and declared elected uncontest shows that people have started reposing their faith on the programmes and policies of the Congress party, Gaikhangam said.
In future Congress party would be able to contributing its mite in the development and welfare of the people, he expressed optimism.
Gaikhangam further asserted that the present Congress led ruling SPF Government is poised to become the only stable Government in the political history of Manipur since attainment of Statehood.
Congress party is fielding in all 222 candidates for the election of the eight Municipal Councils and 18 Nagar Panchayats which would be held on January 17.Out of the total number of candidates, 47 of them are for the Municipal Council and the remaining 135 are for the Nagar Panchayat.
Meanwhile, Oinam Block Congress has congratulated party candidate Oinam Bimola Devi who has been declared elected uncontest from ward no.
