The officers and personnel of 25 Bn BRTF is informed to have expedited ongoing roads construction and maintenance of National Highways connecting the State to other parts of the country following onset of weather conditions favourable to construction activities.
Personnel of the 25 BRTF assigned the task, among others, development and maintenance of the Imphal-Aizawl via Tipaimukh NH-150 stretching to about 262 kilometres the task force is learnt to have completed construction of 40 kms from Churachandpur side.
According to the Unit's Commander MA Raza sanction has been granted for extension of 20 kms from BRO authorities for which works would begin very soon.
Altogether 300 labourers including 25 BRTF staffers and Engineers are working round the clock for completion of the assigned tasks at the earliest, he confided while adding that machineries utilised for the purpose included six tippers, a JCB, one bulldozer, a stone-crusher.
The BRTF CO left Imphal for Churachandpur to supervise the work progress there.
Exuding confidence of progressing at a favourable pace pending works before arrival of the next monsoon season, MA Raza also informed of black-topping currently on in full throttle along the vital NH-53.Moreover, construction and repairing of over half the 90 kms Senapati to Phaibung portion along NH-39 has been completed with BRTF men beginning work from both ends, he said.
Similar progress could be made on the Yaingangpokpi-Jessami stretch of NH-150 as there is no hurdle to the ongoing works, the CO maintained.
Added to the construction agency's task is the 195 kms Mahadev-Tolloi route out which construction activities had already covered 18 kms, he said and informed of BRO authorities assigning another 70 kms on the same route.
