Dimapur, January 09:
In the backdrop of the nearly a decade old stalemate in the Naga political talks, NSCN (I-M) general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah today said the Nagas are ready to face any eventualities towards finding an honourable settlement to the sixty-year old Naga political issue without compromising on "our land and rights." "We will not surrender and never be shaken.
Our patience should not be allowed to be exploited under any circumstances.
We are ready to do anything for a peaceful solution to the Indo-Naga issue," Muivah said at the civic reception programme organized in honour of his arrival at Dimapur airport today.
While admitting "We are passing through a tough period because we have to tussle on several issues," he said the NSCN (I-M) would proceed in such a way that sincerity from both the sides (NSCN-IM and Government of India) is proved for a peaceful solution to the Indo-Naga problem.
"There is always a solution there.
God is still with us.
God has never abandoned us." We have responsibilities.
Let us be sincere.
If God is on our side, who can be against us ? We need to be positive, then the world will be ours", he said.
"We are passing through a tough stage in the peace process because we have to tussle in such a way that sincerity from both sides (NSCN-IM and Govt of India) are proved.
"We will face any situation.
I am confident we will never be shaken," he said.
Referring to the recent discussion over the peace process with the Indian Government and leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, at Delhi, Muivah said he had urged the Indian leadership to be more sincere towards finding an early solution.
Muivah was accompanied by seven other NSCN (IM) officials while flying to Dimapur from Kolkata which he reached on Monday.
The Nagaland Government as per directives from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has provided Z Plus security to Muivah while he was escorted to NSCN (IM)'s CHQ, Camp Hebron, off Dimapur.
A motorcade of eight vehicles of security personnel, with two bullet proof cars, whisked Muivah to Hebron.
The convoy also included vehicles of the NSCN (IM) functionaries and others.
There was no untoward incident on the way.
