Imphal, January 05:
In a gesture to boost the sporting endeavour of Kh Pradipkumar, who won the Mister Manipur title in the 60 kg weight category of the competition held recently, the staff of Social Awareness Service Organisation (SASO), Manipur Network of Positive People (MNP+) and regional co-ordinator of Asian-Pacific Network of Positive People Ph Sibananda Sharma have contributed and donated a sum of Rs 18 lakhs to him today.
Pradipkumar has been living with HIV for the last seven years.
The amount was handed over to Pradipkumar during a function organised jointly by SASO and MNP+ at the conference hall of SASO today.
Appreciating the gesture, Pradipkumar observed that to fight against the problem of drug menace among the youths in Manipur, parents need to play an important role and to stop spread of HIV/AIDS among the people then the HIV infected/affected persons themselves should come out and play a major role.
Setting himself as an example, Pradipkumar said that there is life after HIV infection.
'Just as I have come out in the open and work hard to win the title, other HIV infected/affected Manipuri youths can also achieve success in their chosen fields if they are really determined',
he said.
All those who were present at the occasion prayed to God for giving more success to Pradipkumar who is preparing to participate in the Minister India contest scheduled to be held in March this year.
