Hardly 24 hours after the board of Secondary Education informed media-persons that results of the HSLC 2006 may be out by the end of this month, the Board declared the same this afternoon.
Comparatively pass percentage recorded in the 2006 examination witnessed a marginal increase at 40 PC with 9844 candidates out of 24653 (appeared) scaling the test against the 39 pass percentage recorded last year.
More details, including marksheets of respective candidates can be accessed through the BSEM website http://manresults.nic.in upholding its tradition of figuring at the top of the HSLC examination in the last many years, Nirmalabas School, Imphal came out on top with Angelica Laiphrakpam securing a total of 614 marks with letter marks in alternative English, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Higher Mathematics.
The topper is the daughter of L Ranjit Singh and Sushila Devi of RIMS Colony, Imphal West.
Following her in second place is Dineshor Thoudam s/o th Kishore Singh and Chaobi Devi of Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai in Imphal East, with a total mark of 602.The Catholic School, Canchipur student scored letter marks in Manipuri, english, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Higher Mathematics.
An outstanding feature of the second position holder is cent percent score in Mathematics.
Similar marks also decorated the feats of Laimayum Sachikanta Sharma of Brighter Academy, Sanjenthong and Laithangbam Prosenjit Singh of St Joseph's School, Sangaiprou in Computer Science.
Securing the third position in the examination is Laishram Tarajeet of St Joseph's School, Sangaiprou at 596 with letter marks in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Higher Mathematics.
A resident of Keishampat Leimajam Leikai, Tarajeet is the son of L Babu and Soroju Devi.
Kanti Rajkumari (Little Flower School, Imphal), Sapam Thoiba (Bethel English School, Nambol Chingmang), Monali Moirangthem (MBC Hr Sec School), Dayachand Sorokhaibam (St Joseph's School), Ashem Thoibisana (Tiny Tots' Unique School) and Sharangthem joykumar Meetei (emmanuel English Academy, Yaingangpokpi) occupied the 4th to 9th positions respectively.
With scores of 566 marks each Shijagurumayum Yashwar Sharma (Regular English School, Kwakeithel), Okram Sushilkumar Singh (Evergreen Flowers' School, thoubal) and Ningombam Ibomcha Singh (Evergreen Flowers' School, thoubal) shared the tenth position.
Candidates of Don Bosco High School, Langjing; loktak Christian Model High School, Loktak Project; Padma Ratna Eng/S, Kakching; Sofia Eng/S, Naorem Leikai; A Jalil HS, Imphal; Ratna Eng/S, Kakching; Sofia Eng/S, Naorem Leikai; A Jalil HS, Imphal; Martin Grammar School, Kakching; Standard Robarth Eng/S, Canchipur; Don Bosco, Maram; and Antartic Eng/S, Yairipok also figured in the top 25 chart.
Breaking the trend of girls proving smarter than their more muscular peers in HSLC exams, boy candidates not only crowded the top 10 chart, but also tipped the scale in first division at 1446 numbers while 1036 girls achieved the same grade.
Boys also fared well in the second and third division categories.
School-wise, private institutions expectedly led the show recording 53 pass percentage, followed by Government-run schools at 21 and aided institutions attaining 14 percent.
While 41 candidates were expelled during the course of the examinations for reliance on unfair means, candidature of one student in BSEM conducted examinations would be debarred for three years on impersonation case.
